Salicornia (or "asparagus of the sea") is a halophyte plant of green leaves, edible, which has the ability to assign a salty taste to an extensive range of culinary preparations, being a healthy alternative to the consumption of salt, one of the main minerals responsible for provoking in the human organism a set of cerebrovascular diseases. It has a high nutritional value - for every 100 grams, provides about 38 kcal; is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, dietary fibers and minerals such as iron and potassium. Compared to salt, which has 40,000 milligrams of sodium per 100 grams, salicornia powder has only 18700 milligrams of sodium per 100 grams. Apart from the palate, it has health benefits, such as: an antioxidant action; diuretic action; an anti-tumor action; is an electrolyte repository; combat high blood pressure problems.
